At redspottedhanky.com we search high and low to find the best fares for you. Our customers save an average of 50% compared to buying tickets at the station on the day of travel.
How we calculated the average saving figure
At redspottedhanky.com, to keep the ticket prices as cheap as possible, we won't charge you any credit or debit card fees.
This is how we have calculated the saving.
We analysed sales data taken from actual redspottedhanky.com transactions for journeys made from 2nd April 2016 to the 8th July 2016 to ascertain the saving that can be made by purchasing an advance fare versus the equivalent walk-up fare at the station. The sales data consists of 2350 transactions. This analysis shows that the average saving that can be made by purchasing an advance ticket is 50%.
This data consisted of Standard advice fares purchased via redspottedhanky.com and was compared against the equivalent walk-up fare available at the date and time at the station, assuming that the same trains would be travelled on.
For enquiries with two advance singles the price was compared with the cheapest walk up return fare on the services selected whether this is off-peak or anytime according to the restrictions in place.
For enquiries with one advance single the price was compared with the cheapest walk up single fare on the services selected whether this be off-peak or anytime according to the restrictions in place. Only standard class tickets booked in advance have been included, no first class or railcard discounted tickets have been used.
