Redspottedhanky.com raises £5,000 for The Prince’s Trust

Posted on

At redspottedhanky.com, we’re not just about helping you find cheap train tickets – we love doing our bit for worthwhile charities too.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve managed to raise £5,000 for The Prince’s Trust ‘Million Makers’ corporate challenge. Read on to find out more about our charity work and how you can help.

What is the Prince’s Trust ‘Million Makers’ corporate challenge?

The Prince’s Trust is a UK charity set up by the Prince of Wales that helps disadvantaged young people to improve their prospects. The Prince’s Trust runs a bunch of different programs that help with training, mentoring and funding young people.

The charity has recently set up its Million Makers scheme as a new type of charity fundraising concept.

The idea is that companies and universities get teams of young people together who come up with a plan that’ll help make a million for The Prince’s Trust. They’ve then got to pitch their business plan to a Prince’s Trust panel, which will then fund and support some of the moneymaking schemes pitched.

But, to make this happen they need the cash to fund the schemes. That’s where we’ve managed to help out…

How did redspottedhanky.com help?

Our lovely employee’s saw the chance to make redspottedhanky.com loyalty points they’d earned to great use. Instead of using their points to book free train travel they selflessly donated them to the cause. We then converted these points to cash (well, a giant cheque) and handed it over to The Prince’s Trust.

We’d like to thank our staff for their generosity. It must have been difficult for them to part with all that lovely free train travel.

Our very own director Andrea Morgan was over-the-moon with the result saying: “The loyalty points accumulated by our employees have the equivalent value of £5,000, which I am delighted to be presenting to The Prince’s Trust. At redspottedhanky.com we fully support the work The Trust does, and we are extremely pleased to be contributing to it.”

How can you help out a charity with redspottedhanky.com?

You can help support other charities with redspottedhanky.com. We also work with the Railway Children – a charity that helps homeless children in the UK, India and Africa.

All you need to do is make some great savings using our journey planner, and then donate your loyalty points. You’ll get a loyalty point for every pound you spend on cheap train tickets. And 1 point is worth 1 penny off travel or to charity. Simply log in to your account, choose how many points you want to give to charity and we’ll do the rest.
