The best February half-term activities you can reach by train

Half term is fast approaching! We know it can be tough to keep your little ones entertained and busy throughout this period, so we’ve found the best activities the UK has to offer. They will keep them busy from start to finish, plus they’ll be left with memories that will last long after the week is out. To make getting there as simple as possible, we’ve also found the nearest train station to each event.

Imagine Children’s Festival @southbankcentre

Nearest Train Station: Waterloo Train Station

If you’re looking for a way to entertain your children this half term whilst getting their imagination working, then you need to head to ‘Imagine Children’s Festival’ at the South Bank Centre. Sit back as they listen to their favourite authors, or join in some of the free family-friendly performances before getting creative at the fun workshops. There will be a special screening of ‘The Little Mermaid’ which will be powered by bicycles, interactive storytelling with ‘Nimble Tots’ and the chance to have a family party with ‘Rave-A-Roo’.

GEEK at Dreamland Margate @DreamlandMarg

Nearest Train Station: Margate Train Station

A festival of play and game, GEEK brings everyone together to meet, make and play. For three days over the February half-term (16th – 18th February) GEEK will be taking over Dreamland, providing family entertainment with challenges, talks, workshops and a variety of different games to play. Play old and new computer games, board games, card games and so much more. There will be coding, science, storytelling, zombie makeup and so much more.

Multiple events at English Heritage Sites @EnglishHeritage

This half-term, there are many events taking place at English Heritage sites across the UK. Embark on a Roman Quest, or going hunting for fairies. Whatever your children enjoy, there's an event for them. Find your nearest event here.

February Fun at Stockeld Park @stockeldpark

Nearest Train Station: Pannal Train Station

This half term at Stockled Park they have their fabulous Outdoor Ice Skating Rink along with their Enchanted Forest and Adventure Playgrounds. Taking place from the 10th - 18th February, come on down and enjoy all of the activities.

North West Puddle Jumping Championships @WWTMartinMere

Nearest Train Station: New Lane Train Station

This year the third North West Puddle Jumping Championships will return to Martin Mere during February half-term, with a special guest of Dusty Duck. The puddles will be set up for practise in the morning each day, with competitions beginning at 2pm with a 50p entry. With jumps based on the enthusiasm of the jumper, the creativity of the jump and of course, the height of the splash, everyone can get involved for their chance of winning. So dig out your wellies, and get on down. If you can’t make it to Martine Mere, then you’re in luck because all WWT Wetland Centres will be holding these puddle jumping competitions.

Wild Discoveries @wild_place

Nearest Train Station: Bristol Parkway Train Station

This half-term take a journey around Wild Place and explore all the park has to offer. Outsmart their rangers with their Rangers Riddles trails, or challenge your family to a game of Nature Bingo. There's plenty of fun to be had during the 10th - 18th February.

Early Man at Eden @EdenProject

Nearest Train Station: St Austell Train Station

This half term, take a step back in time with the Eden Project. In association with Early Man, Eden Project have a fun range of activiites that little ones will love to take part in. You can book your tickets here.
