Nearest Train Station: Alnmouth

The coastal village of Alnmouth in Northumberland close to Alnwick makes the perfect seaside getaway for those looking for a quaint picturesque coastal retreat. The beach at Alnmouth sits in the mouth of the River Aln with a wide sandy bay, great for building sandcastles, riding horses and so much more.


Nearest Train Station: Reedham

A village that makes up part of the Norfolk Broads, Reedham is laid out along the Northern bank of the River Yare. As you walk along the quay you’ll be met with idyllic cottages, riverside pubs and plenty of moored boats. When on the train to this village make sure you note the swing bridge which takes the railway over the river.

Whitby is a seaside town made famous for its association with the novel Dracula. With a trip to Whitby you can explore its established maritime heritage, explore the abbey ruin at the top of the East Cliff whilst leisurely browsing the independent stores that have built up over time.

Pembroke Dock is the third largest town in Pembrokeshire and can be found on the River Cleddau. Being used as a Royal Air Force base for almost 30 years, the town is rich in history which is still present today. The full-scale Millennium Falcon for ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ was created in one of Pembroke Dock’s hangars.

A picturesque market town on the River Frome, Wareham makes a fabulous day out for all. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes for you to explore during your visit thanks to its Saxon history. The town’s quay is a fantastic focal point and the perfect place to sit and watch the boats go by. If you’re feeling up for it you could even rent your own boat.

There are also plenty of shops for you to peruse in your own leisure with tasty restaurants dotted around.

The largest natural lake in England, Windermere is a sight to behold. With a large selection of different activities to partake in during your visit there is plenty for every one of all ages and abilities to take part in.

Found on the west coast of Snowdonia, Barmouth is a picturesque harbour with long sandy beaches fit for strolling on a warm summer’s day. If you head there over the summer you’ll also find a funfair in full swing if you fancy a break from the amusement arcades in the area.
