Wimbledon 2nd – 15th July in London

British Grand Prix 8th July at Silverstone Circuit

Nearest Train Station: Banbury Train Station

Held at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone Northamptonshire the British Grand Prix is one of the oldest continuously staged Formula One World Championship Grands Prix. Fans of the sport often enjoy a long weekend of entertainment, watching as drivers get ready for the main event on Sunday 8th July.

Athletics World Cup 14th - 15th July

Nearest Train Station: Stratford Train Station

The Athletics World Cup sees eight of the worlds top athletics nations compete in London this summer. At the London Stadium, there will be eight field events and nine track events, with the finish being 4 x 400m relays. Plus, to mark 100 years since women were given the right to the vote, the first edition of the event will see all Nations select a female athlete as team captain.

Women’s British Open 2nd – 5th August in Kingsbarns

The Women’s British Open was established by the Ladies’ Golf Union in 1976 to serve as the women’s equivalent of The Open Championship. Now known as the Richo Women’s British Open due to sponsorship reasons, this year’s event takes place at Kingsbarns Golf Links in Scotland from the 2nd until 5th August.

Hockey Women's World Cup - 21st July - 5th August

Nearest Train Station: Stratford International Train Station

The will be the 14th edition of the Women's Hockey World Cup. Taking place at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London. This is the biggest hockey event in the world and it's the first time it will be hosted in the United Kingdom. There will be a total of 16 world-class teams taking part, including England.

Tour of Britain 2nd – 9th September across the UK

Also known as the Ovo Engery Tour of Britain, the Tour of Britain is a multi-stage cycling race which takes place across Great Britain. Cyclists race across the country to see who can complete the course in the fastest time. Beginning in Edinburgh on the 2nd September, the event ends in Cardiff on the 9th September.

Great North Run: 9th September in Newcastle

Nearest Train Station: Newcastle Train Station

One of the largest half marathons in the world, the Great North Run takes place in September where participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. Created by former Olympic bronze medallist Brendan Foster, participation has grown in this event to see is being one of the most taken part in half marathon globally.
