Richmond Station is situated in the Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames in South West London. The station is on the Waterloo to Reading line, and is also the Western terminus for both the London Underground’s District Line and the London Overground’s North London Line.
The station was opened in 1846 by the Richmond and West End Railway and has undergone major redevelopments over the years as the London rail system has expanded. Richmond Railway Station was also part of the 2008 Heathrow Airtrack proposal for a high-speed rail route to Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. The popular London attraction of Kew Gardens is only one tube stop away from Richmond Station.
