You can now buy 16-25, Family & Friends and Senior Railcards online. If you are eligible for a railcard, you can buy your railcard online , or alternatively you can visit your local station to apply.

When you're planning a rail journey online, add the railcard type(s) you have and the number of railcards to see how much you can save. If you are eligible for a railcard, the fares displayed will automatically have the railcard discount applied.

16-25 Railcard - £28 for a whole year

Aged 16-25 or a full time student aged 26 or over?

Then you could be eligible to save 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain.

16-25 Railcard discounts now apply to all Standard and First Class Advance fares. To buy a 16-25 Railcard online, you will need a valid UK driving licence or passport number to prove you are eligible, and also have a digital passport style photo saved on your computer.

Please note:

  • A £12 minimum fare for Single and Return tickets applies before 10:00am Monday to Friday, except on public holidays. See the 16-25 Railcard website for further details.
  • Online purchase is currently not available for mature students. You will need your educational establishment to sign and stamp your railcard application form to verify you are a full-time student, and you can apply at a station by picking up a leaflet from any staffed station ticket office.

Family & Friends Railcard - £28 for a whole year

Travelling with kids?

You could save 1/3 on most adult fares and 60% on child fares with a Family & Friends Railcard .

Family & Friends Railcard discounts now even apply to all Standard Class Advance fares. Up to four adults and four kids can travel on one Family & Friends Railcard, and they don’t even need to be related! At least one named cardholder and one child must be travelling together for the whole journey.

Senior Railcard - £28 for a whole year

Aged 60 or over?

Save 1/3 on most Standard and First Class rail fares with a Senior Railcard and you can start making some dramatic savings. To buy a Senior Railcard online , you’ll need a valid UK driving licence or passport to prove that you are eligible.

Network Railcard - £28 for a whole year

Do you travel often within South East England?

You could save on rail journeys in the South East with a Network Railcard, which can be purchased at manned stations.

Please note that a £13 minimum fare applies on all tickets from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

Disabled Persons Railcard - £20 for one year or £54 for three years

With a Disabled Person’s Railcard, you can save 1/3 off Standard and First Class tickets. The Disabled Person's Railcard is available to disabled adults and children (as explained in the Rail Travel Made Easy leaflet) and also allows one accompanying adult to travel with the same discount.

Unfortunately, the Disabled Person’s Railcard cannot be purchased online or through telesales or stations. To apply for your railcard, please complete the form available on the Disabled Person's Railcard website and send it to the address given in the Rail Travel Made Easy leaflet along with proof of your entitlement.

Existing Diabled Person's Railcard holders who wish to renew their railcard can do so by phoning 0845 605 0525, or you can renew your Disabled Person's Railcard online.

HM Forces Railcard - £15 for one year

The HM Forces Railcard costs £15 and can save you 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year. That works out to under £2 a month for huge savings.

You are eligible for a HM Forces Railcard if you are a member of the Regular Forces or a spouse of a member. Service personnel can obtain an application form from their Unit Personnel/Administration Office.
